Jake's store itself has been a part of the Sutallee (pronounced "Su-tal-e") community for over 25 years. Jake and Frances Marshall opened the original Jake's in the early '80's as a country store selling the basic supplies for fishing and hunting as well as Jake's famous chili dogs. Jake and Frances retired, closing the store in 1993.

Jake's then went through several business ventures in the next few years ranging from a convenience store to pottery.  In 2009 Jake's was re-opened as our produce market and canning kitchen.

Jake's Market offers local, Georgia and regionally grown produce.  Our goal, maintain 85-90% of its offerings from Georgia farmers.  We are becoming Cherokee County's resource for locally grown and handmade goods.

Jake's Cannery was added in 2010 as a means to offer our customers the opportunity of enjoying their produce after the growing season.  Our cannery is a Low-Acid facility certified through Georgia's Department of Agriculture.  This opened an additional opportunity for us as a "shared kitchen" to small businesses in our area.

Jake's continues to grow.  Our recent addition of solar power 2012 is keeping our footprint "green" in the community while reducing our overall cost of operation.  To compliment this addition, barrels to capture rainwater for our garden areas were added and we are in the process of adding a composting area to replenish our garden area.  Our next improvement will be resurfacing our parking lot with recycled materials.
